xmlns:fb='http://ogp.me/ns/fb#'> Mums Write!: My Writing

Welcome

Many websites provide guidance on writing for publication, formatting manuscripts, and drafting letters to agents. Mums Write! is different. My aim is to encourage family and friends to write for pleasure, for and about the children in their lives. Is publication a worthy goal? Absolutely. Click here to find out why I think it is. But first and foremost, writing for and about children is worthwhile as an end in itself, because it enriches the experience of raising them. I hope you find this site inspiring, and that you share the fruits of your inspiration with the children and children at heart in your world--and with us at MW. Please comment on the postings, or contact me at joanna.norland@gmail.com if you would like to share work to be posted on this site.

My Writing

A selection of my writing about motherhood and for children.

Mothers Have Nine Lives
A play in one act -Click here to Read it on the ProPlay Website.

Scrumptious
Scrumptious
Yum-tious
In my lunch-ious.
A harrumptious
Treat from
Mum-tious.
Hmm, my tum-tious
Sure feels grumptious.
I'll sit on my
Bumptious
Rumptious
And have me a
Crunch'n'munch-ious.

Crocodile
I'm a friendly crocodile.
See my cheery croco-smile
Won't you stay a croco-while? . .
Why do they run a croco-mile?

To the Nines
My jumper is unravelling
My coat is frayed and torn
I'll wrap up in a hug from you
To keep me dry and warm

My scarf is dingey-mingey
My gloves are grungey grey
But if I add your tickle-me's
I'll glow peach-pink all day

My socks are itchy-scratchy
My slippers lost their bows
My dance shoes are the raspberries
That you blow on my toes

Motivational Poem for my Vertically Challenged Son

Strikers who are small
Get the ball.

You have to be real teeny
To drive a Lamborghini

Being small and tiny
Drives my lamb to bawl and whine-y
Still, I love him 'cuz he's mine-y
